Adobe Voice: Use Your iPad to Make Presentations Using Your Own Voice

adobe voice app

When people think of Adobe, they probably instantly think of the Acrobat Reader we use to view PDFs, or perhaps the popular Photoshop graphics software.

But Adobe has a large suite of products and online platforms, especially for those who create.   And now Adobe has released something for the creator in all entrepreneurs — a remarkable new  iPad-only app called Voice.  The Adobe Voice app allows you to make small presentations — complete with graphics, icons, backgrounds — and your own voice added.

No expensive camera, lighting or crew is required. You are the only actor and director, and in a few minutes, you can produce a presentation which can be shared on social media, as well as being embedded on your website. It won’t win any Oscars but it may impress some potential customers or investors to your business.

Adobe Voice lets you tell a story or convey information in your own words and voice, with professional-looking visuals to go with it.  If you’ve ever struggled with tools to add voiceovers to business presentations, or to cost-effectively create animated explainer videos, you’ll appreciate Adobe Voice.

Best of all, the Adobe Voice app is free.

How to Use Adobe Voice to Make Presentations Using Your Own Voice

Having tried it myself, I can say firsthand Adobe Voice is a joy to use.  Like me, you may immediately see the upsides of using it – provided, of course, you have an iPad.

Normally I hate the sound of my own voice in recordings, but for the sake of Small Business Trends, I decided to make an exception and produce a very short Small Business Trends video, with Adobe Voice. It took me literally 2 minutes to make, so don’t laugh at how bad I sound. Here it is:

Making videos using Voice is extremely easy. Let me give you a quick overview of how they are made.

First you need to give them a title. So I named mine “Small Business Trends:”

Then you have to assign it a category. If you don’t see one which accurately fits your intended video, then you can make one from a blank template.

Then you tap on the square at the bottom of the screen, which will contain the scene in the video. Obviously you would go in sequence (unless you have some reason for doing the ending first). When you are ready, press the orange button and speak clearly into the iPad. Make the message short.

It will ask you to listen to what you have just recorded, and will offer a re-recording option if you made a mistake or if you sound terrible. When you are happy, the next step is to add graphics.

You can either add an icon, a photo (from your iPad camera roll, your iOS Photostream, or a new one using your webcam) or text. For an icon, you can search using the Creative Commons search engine provided. Just enter a general subject of what your video is about.

That will bring up lots of possibilities. Just choose one and it will appear on the screen.

You can also change the background color. I chose something a bit more bright.

The end result is what you see above in my embedded presentation video. Claiming your presentation involves signing in with an Adobe ID or Facebook ID.  The video is hosted online for you — not need to find a place to host it or to load it.  You just grab the link to your presentation video and then share it over social media or via email, or embed it in a website, as I’ve done here.

I consider this a fantastic tool from Adobe, and believe many small business owners will find it invaluable when you need to create quick, good looking video presentations — and stay authentic because they are in your own voice. Give it a spin, and let us know in the comments what you think of it.
