Birmingham Home & Garden Magazine Picks Its “Inspiration Home”

HOOVER, AL – Each year for the last seven years, Birmingham Home & Garden magazine features an Inspiration Home, showcasing some of Birmingham’s most impressive new homes built and designed locally. The 2017 Birmingham Home & Garden Inspiration Home is located in the upscale Glasscott division of the Ross Bridge resort community in Hoover.

“We are so excited to partner with Murphy Home Builders and the Ross Bridge Community for our seventh Inspiration Home,” said Birmingham Home & Garden Editor, Cathy Still McGowin. “One of our favorite parts about our Inspiration Homes is showcasing local talent and local sources. We have so many innovative designers that create a variety of looks. Their style and product will be on display, and better yet, all of it is for sale.”

The home opens on November 2 and welcomes the public for four weekends. The home will be showcased November 12-December 6; Thursday, 9:30 am- 2:30 pm; Friday, 9:30 am- 2:30 pm; Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm; and Sunday, 1 pm- 6 pm . The 4700-square foot home is a two-story brick and cedar shake house with a grand, open floorplan that includes a bright kitchen with top of the line appliances, a farm sink, an eat-in dining area, and an expansive island perfect for entertaining. The master suite is large, but still cozy thanks to ornate washed pine ceilings and luxurious bathroom and his and hers closets. There is also a deep soaking tub for relaxing, and the lights under the vanity adjust to accommodate any mood. Designed for entertaining, the home offers a variety of spaces for gatherings large and small. The dining room, with its dramatic dark walls, sets the scene for intimate evenings. For the host’s convenience, there’s an adjacent butler’s pantry connecting the space to the kitchen.

Design features include exposed beams in the living area that extend all the way outside onto the vaulted ceilings on the covered porch., the spray foam insulation that ensures energy efficiency in all four seasons, and lush landscaping with a privacy fence. The home was built by Birmingham’s Murphy Home Builders and designed by Birmingham’s Virginia Volman of Virginia Volman Designs.

“We are honored to be a part of the Birmingham Home & Garden Inspiration House this year,” said Kyle Murphy, owner of Murphy Home Builders. “It has been very exciting watching the project come together and seeing the latest in design fill the home as it was completed.”
