With Christmas over and a new year just days away, fashionistas are turning their attention to 2017’s hottest looks.

While many of us have been busy stocking up on Christmas presents and food, some of Liverpool’s much-loved high street stores have already been working on their Spring/Summer 2017 collections.

The ECHO has managed to get a sneak peek of some of the items from stores including River Island and Topshop, both based on Church Street.

Online retailer Asos has also shared their plans for the new season, with stripes featuring heavily in a lot of pieces.

As the weather is expected to get warmer, it means it is time for the return of bikinis, loose fitting dresses and sandals.

And while the summer months may seem like a lifetime away, some pieces will actually be arriving in stores as early as February.

Zara have even confirmed some stock for next year may already be in stores, however the full collection won’t land until after the end of year sales.

Here’s our preview of the Spring/Summer 17 collections from your favourite retailers.

River Island

The high street retailers new collection will be split into five key trends; Rosa, Rogue, Island Time, Pretty Western and Neo Classic.

All trends will have a main focus on chokers, waist belts and sunglasses.

Rosa will be full of quirky and eclectic pieces, so think top-to-toe in all shades of pink. There will also be heavily embellished trophy jackets and embroidered bags.

Rouge will be more of a casual selection of items, such as oversized denim, floral print trousers and slogan t-shirts. All aimed to create a relaxed daytime look.

Pretty Western features ruffles and knitwear whilst combining cowboy boots and buckled belts.

Neo Classic offers relaxed tailoring and pyjama style dressing. Shirts are the main focus, as are corset belts and pale denim pieces.

Topshop

Topshop are yet to announced an exact date when their Spring/Summer collection will be released, however judging by the preview images we would say it is worth the wait.

Metallics and fur seem to be a key focus with the footwear, while the clothing seems to feature a variety of midi length skirts in different stand-out fabrics including leather and velvet.

The embroidered denim trend from this season will be continuing on to the next at Topshop as their SS 17 jeans feature floral detailing and ankle graze cut.

PVC trousers and lace blouses are also among stand-out pieces.

H&M

H&M’s new collection will be arriving in stores in Feburary.

It has been an exciting year for the high-street retailer as it enjoyed a successful launch of its collaboration with designer label KENZO. It looks like 2017 will just as rewarding for H&M.

Their new collection is focused on a neutral colour palette, with the new season having a much more relaxed approach, expect to see distressed denim jeans, light pink trainers and cut-out jumpers.

Zara

Zara’s new collection looks like it is set to be one of the first to be released in 2017 as stores have already started to receive their Spring/ Summer stock, including the Liverpool ONE store.

Dresses will be loose fitting and will still be sticking with darker colours, giving the impression that even more new collections will drop as the summer draws closer.

Asos

While Asos does not have a high-street store, the online retailer remains a popular choice for shoppers in Liverpool.

Asos have confirmed their new pieces will be dropping on their website in March.

They include striped trousers, ripped denim skirts and jackets, while bikinis and beach bags will also be landing.
