These days, everyone loves to talk about how busy they are. I get it. I love having a packed schedule and feeling like I’m being productive and not wasting precious time. But if you love being busy, it’s really important to balance it out by taking the time to practice self care.
You should practice self care throughout the week, especially on nights when you’ve had a super busy day. Weeknight self care shouldn’t fall by the wayside. It’s important to make time for yourself, and that goes 10x for when you’ve had a really hectic day, and especially on days when you have something to celebrate!
Wondering how to incorporate self care into your weeknight routine? These five things will help you feel good and rejuvenated!
1. Make a Delicious, Healthy Meal
There’s nothing better than eating a delicious, healthy meal at the end of a long day. Personally, I love cooking- I find it enjoyable and it (usually) relaxes me- unless the recipe is super complex, then it just stresses me out!
The great thing is, there are so many easy, delicious and healthy meals you can make in a jiff! Give yourself half an hour or so and you can create something you’ll really enjoy. Make sure you take the time to appreciate the tastes and flavours of what you’ve created. Don’t just scarf it down- eat it slowly, chew your food and really taste the delicious ingredients of your home cooked meal!
2. Rejuvenate Your Skin
Skin care is such a big part of self care. Some of my favourite things to do for weeknight skin care self care are using a jade roller, doing a face mask and applying a few nourishing serums. These three steps help revitalize your skin and you can do them all while you relax in front of the TV or while you read a book.
3. Celebrate Your Wins
After you’ve had a lonnng day, you deserve to treat yourself. I love treating myself, especially on days where I want to celebrate big (or little) wins that happened that day. Maybe I killed it at a fitness class I almost bailed on, or I landed a partnership with one of my dream brands, or got really amazing feedback from one of my clients!
Big or small, you should always celebrate your wins, and one of the best ways I’ve found to do this is with a glass of wine, a movie and snacking on delicious Eatable popcorn.
I first tried Eatable a few months ago and instantly fell in love with their popcorn. If you haven’t heard of Eatable, it’s artisanal popcorn infused with alcohol in the most luxurious way. You can taste the superb quality of the popcorn with every kernel you pop into your mouth, and it makes the most perfect pairing for a glass of vino!!
Eatable Popcorn Flavours
Eatable has three flavours of popcorn (I hear there are more in the works!). My absolute favourite is “Pop the Champagne”- the kernels are coated in premium Belgium white chocolate, infused with natural Champagne extract and sprinkled with sugar crystals that actually pop in your mouth!
They also have “Whisky on the Pops”- kernels coated in a Scotch Whisky-infused caramel, and “Poppin’ Merlot PB&J”- whole grain popcorn, with a mix of kernels coated in smooth, chewy peanut butter and a Merlot-infused jelly. Mmmm mmmm mmm!
Why I Love It
Not only is Eatable a local Toronto brand, they use 100% natural ingredients- there no artificial flavours, sweeteners or preservatives, which is SO important to me! They use high quality popcorn sourced from Canadian farms, and I love how you can truly taste the real, flavourful ingredients and the love that goes into each batch!
It’s the best popcorn I’ve ever tasted, and an ideal snack whether you’re treating yourself at home, bringing it to a gathering with friends or having an at-home date night. It would also make for a perfect gift, and with Mother’s Day just around the corner, what better way to treat the most important lady in your life?

If you’ve been looking for the perfect snack for your weeknight self care routine, I can’t recommend Eatable popcorn enough!
4. Light A Few Candles
There’s nothing better than your favourite intoxicating scent filling your home. Find a few candle scents you love so you can switch things up from night to night. When you’re cooking dinner, watching TV, reading a book, or even cleaning your space, having a candle burning can make you feel happier and more relaxed.
5. Read Before Bed
One of the best weeknight self care practices I’ve found is reading before going to bed. Whether it’s grazing through a magazine and stopping to read stories that catch my eye, or reading a novel, I love reading before I go to bed.
I find it helps me relax and makes me more tired so I can get a good night’s rest. Reading can also transport you to another place, causing you to get lost in the story. Watching a show or scrolling through social media can make it harder for you to fall asleep because of the blue light in the screen, so reading is definitely the way to go for a good night’s rest!
Weeknight self care is so important. Make time for yourself when you’ve had a busy day and implement these ideas for the ultimate weeknight self care routine!
