How Deepika Padukone broke a wedding tradition with her Mumbai reception clothes

Deepika Padukone broke tradition by wearing ivory to her reception.

eepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s gorgeous wedding was unique in more ways than one. They had a private celebration at Lake Como in Italy. The functions there comprised of sangeet, mehendi, chooda ceremony, the Konkani wedding and Anand Karaj.

Only the families and very close relatives of Ranveer and Deepika were present at the festivities in Italy. All the functions that took place there were done with full rituals and traditions, be it Sindhi or Konkani.

Both Deepika and Ranveer looked their traditional best at all the functions. Even when they returned to India, they were a vision in ethnic wear. Deepika looked like a very happily married traditional Sindhi bride with chooda and sindoor.

Even at their Bengaluru reception on November 21, Deepika opted for a traditional golden silk saree and clutched onto her Konkani roots.

But there is something super special about Deepika and Ranveer’s Mumbai reception that took place on November 28. The newlyweds were glowing in colour-coordinated ivory outfits.

Well, Deepika was a vision in her ivory chikankari lehenga by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. And what was special about this look of hers was that she decided to break an archaic tradition with this one.

Usually North Indian brides do not wear light colours like white, off-white, ivory and beige to their wedding and reception ceremonies. But, Deepika being the diva that she is, totally rocked it like a boss bride.
