Gardener seminars on hand at 40th Home & Garden Expo

Local Master Gardeners will be on hand this weekend at the 40th annual Home and Garden Expo to give seminars on a variety of topics.

There will be eight different seminars throughout the weekend, five on Saturday and three on Sunday. There will also be Jr. Master Gardener activities both days.

Topics include plants that grow well in the Brazos Valley including Texas Superstars, plants for shade and pollinator gardening. Other talks will discuss growing vegetables, lawn care and soil testing for fertilization.

Speakers are Charla Anthony, Brazos County Master Gardeners and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Specialists in turf and soils.
We will have Jr. Master Gardener activities for children the entire show. Children are invited to “Let’s talk P.L.A.N.T.S.” to make Know and Show Sombreros in a Jr. Master Gardener, hands-on learning activity.

This year the Master Gardeners exhibit and talks will take place indoors at the Brazos County Expo Complex. These talks are for the longtime gardeners, beginners or the homeowners that want a pretty yard. Earth-Kind, sustainable and efficient landscape practices will be featured.

There is no charge to attend the talks. But there is entry fee to the Home & Garden Expo – $5/adults, $3/seniors, 12 and under free.
