eBay Coupon Codes: What’s Really Listed, How Seller Coupons and Best Offer Work, and What Happened to eBay Bucks

Merchant: eBay · What this page covers: the coupon codes eBay was publicly listing when we reviewed it, how eBay coupons and seller coupons actually work at checkout, Make an Offer, eBay Refurbished, the Money Back Guarantee, and what happened to eBay Bucks · Sources: eBay’s own pages, listed under Offer provenance.

Is there an eBay coupon code right now? Yes, usually, but they are short-lived. When we reviewed eBay’s own coupon page it listed two codes, and both have now expired: SALVAGED10 (10% off select used gear, ended 10/14/2026) and COUNTDOWN20 (20% off select fashion, tech, and more, ended 10/11/2026). eBay’s All Deals page also showed FALLSTYLE15 for select fashion and REBAGFALL26 for designer brands, with no end date printed. Every eBay sitewide-style code applies only to “select” items, typically has a dollar cap, works once or twice per account, and cannot be stacked with another eBay coupon.

The bigger savings story on eBay is not the codes. eBay is a marketplace: independent sellers run their own sale events, coded coupons, volume pricing, and Best Offer listings, and eBay layers short promotional codes on top. Knowing which discounts cannot combine matters more than finding one more code.

How eBay’s own coupon codes work

eBay runs promotional codes in short bursts and posts them on its coupon page and as Daily Deals banners. Each banner describes the code loosely (“select used gear”) and links to eligible listings; a code that works on one item may not work on the one next to it.

eBay’s general coupon terms set the baseline rules that most codes share:

  • The discount applies to the item price, “excluding any shipping, handling, and taxes.”
  • “The coupon can only be used once, unless otherwise stated on the coupon.” Some promotions allow more; SAVEEXTRA20, for example, stated “Max two redemptions per user.”
  • One redemption can cover multiple items in a single transaction (up to 10, per the general terms), up to the coupon’s maximum discount. Any unused portion of that maximum is forfeited.
  • “The coupon cannot be combined with any other coupon, site discount, rebate, offer, gift coupon, or other promotion.”
  • Common excluded categories include vehicles, real estate, coins and paper money, gift cards, and warranties or protection plans.
  • Codes are typically limited to users with a U.S. registration address on ebay.com, and eBay can change or cancel a code at any time.

Example (our math, not an eBay quote): Using the published terms of the expired SAVEEXTRA20 code (20% off, capped at $15), a $50 item would have been discounted $10, to $40 plus shipping and tax. A $120 item would have hit the cap: 20% would be $24, but the discount stops at $15, so the item would cost $105 plus shipping and tax. Above $75 in eligible items, that code was effectively “$15 off.” Also note that eBay’s terms require payment “by 11:59 PM Pacific Time on the coupon end date.”

Personalized coupons in your account

Separate from the public codes, eBay sends targeted coupons to individual members. According to eBay’s coupon help page, these go to members who opt in to marketing emails, and you can find them on the eBay coupon page or in the account section of My eBay. eBay’s in-app coupon terms say “Only invited, registered eBay users who can see the coupon on eBay are eligible,” and that the code, discount, minimum spend, and maximum discount “will be specified in the voucher section of your ‘My eBay’ account.”

eBay says coupons “cannot be transferred between eBay accounts,” so a code someone posts from their own account generally will not work in yours, one reason reposted codes fail so often. See our guide to fake coupon site red flags.

How to apply an eBay coupon at checkout

eBay’s help page describes three steps:

  1. At checkout, enter the code in the “Add coupons” section, or check the box if eBay already displays the coupon.
  2. Select “Apply” to see the new total.
  3. Select “Confirm and pay.”

Seller coupons, sale events, and volume pricing

Most discounts on eBay come from sellers, not from eBay. Sellers with an eBay Store subscription can use eBay’s Discounts Manager to run:

  • Sale events (markdowns): sale prices shown in search results and on the listing.
  • Order discounts: such as a percentage off an additional item, or buy one get one.
  • Coded coupons: public ones are visible “on the search results, listing, and checkout pages”; private ones “will not be visible on eBay” and arrive by email, social media, or a card in a package.
  • Volume pricing: lower per-item prices for buying several of the same item.
  • Shipping discounts: free or reduced shipping for a set period or above a threshold.

The stacking rules, per eBay’s seller documentation: seller coupons “do stack with sales events” and with shipping discounts, but not with order discounts or volume pricing. If a listing has an active Best Offer or a seller-initiated offer, the offer takes priority and “the coupon cannot be applied.” eBay’s buyer help adds that only one coupon or offer can be used per purchase. For broader tactics on layering discounts across stores, see how to stack coupons, cashback, and rewards.

Make an Offer: often the larger discount

On Best Offer listings you can propose a lower price. eBay’s rules:

  • Your offer covers the item price only; shipping and other listing terms stay the same.
  • Sellers have 24 hours to respond. If they counter, you have 96 hours to accept, decline, or counter again.
  • You can make up to 3 offers on most items (5 in most vehicle categories), and expired, declined, and retracted offers all count toward that limit.
  • An accepted offer does not reserve the item: “the item will still be available to other buyers until you complete payment for it.”

Example (our math, not an eBay quote): On a $200 listing, a 10% public code with no cap would save $20. An accepted offer of $170 saves $30, but the coupon then cannot be applied, because an offer takes priority. Compare both before choosing; on higher-priced items with capped codes, an offer often wins.

eBay Refurbished and the Money Back Guarantee

Not every saving is a price cut. eBay Refurbished listings come in four grades. “Certified” items come from the brand or an authorized seller with a two-year warranty; “Excellent,” “Very Good,” and “Good” come from vetted third-party sellers with a one-year warranty. eBay says the warranty is registered with Allstate at checkout at no extra cost, and refurbished buyers get “30 days to return the item for free,” subject to limited exceptions. When we reviewed the Daily Deals page, eBay was also running refurbished category promotions such as up to 60% off refurbished phones and accessories.

The eBay Money Back Guarantee covers most purchases paid on eBay when an item doesn’t arrive, doesn’t match the listing, or the seller won’t honor its stated return policy. You report a missing item after the estimated delivery date and no later than 30 calendar days after it; not-as-described returns have at least 30 days from delivery. Payments made partly outside eBay are not covered, so a seller’s “discount” for paying off-platform costs you that protection.

What happened to eBay Bucks

eBay Bucks no longer runs. eBay’s help page says the program “has stopped running any offers and issuing any new vouchers.” If you were refunded on a purchase made with certificate value, eBay says you “can still redeem that value.” Pages that still advertise earning eBay Bucks on purchases are out of date.

How to save at eBay without a coupon

  • Use Make an Offer on Best Offer listings, especially on used and higher-priced items.
  • Look for seller sale events and volume pricing tiers on the listing itself; no code is needed.
  • Follow sellers you buy from repeatedly; private seller coupons are sent by email or included in packages.
  • Check the Daily Deals page for marked-down items with free shipping.
  • Consider eBay Refurbished for electronics, where the warranty is included.
  • Opt in to eBay marketing emails and check My eBay for personalized coupons tied to your account.
  • Time larger purchases around eBay’s promotional pushes; our big deal days calendar lists the major shopping events.

What we could not verify

  • Whether a given code works on every item in your cart. We did not run a checkout test.
  • The full terms for SALVAGED10, COUNTDOWN20, FALLSTYLE15, and REBAGFALL26. Their landing pages did not render for us, and the banner pages listed no maximum discount, minimum spend, or redemption limit.
  • End dates for FALLSTYLE15 and REBAGFALL26. No date was printed where we found them.
  • Which seller is behind REBAGFALL26. The deal page did not name one.
  • Whether eBay-issued coupons stack with seller coded coupons. eBay’s seller page does not address it; its buyer page says one coupon or offer per purchase.
  • How coupon value is handled on a partial return. eBay’s general terms say a refund “will not include the coupon or its redemption value,” while its coupon FAQ says single-item coupons are returned on a reversal with the original expiration; neither covers partial returns directly.
  • Any student, military, or teacher discount from eBay itself. We did not find one on eBay’s pages.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use two eBay coupon codes on one order?

No. eBay’s coupon FAQ says “only one coupon may be used per purchase,” and its general terms say a coupon cannot be combined with other coupons, site discounts, or promotions. A seller coupon can stack with that seller’s sale event or shipping discount, but not with an order discount or volume pricing.

Why did my eBay coupon code not work?

Per eBay’s help page, the usual causes are an expired code, an item outside the promotion’s “select” items, an ineligible payment method, a reached redemption limit, a coupon issued to a different account, or incorrect delivery details such as a missing phone number.

Is eBay Bucks still available?

No. eBay says the program stopped running offers and issuing new vouchers. Value from refunds on purchases made with old certificates can still be redeemed.

Can I use a coupon on a Best Offer item?

Not together with the offer. eBay’s seller coupon page says that when a Best Offer or seller-initiated offer applies, the offer takes priority and the coupon cannot be applied.

Where does eBay post its current codes?

On its eBay Coupons page and as banners on the Daily Deals and All Deals pages. Personalized codes appear in your My eBay account and in marketing emails if you opt in. You can also browse our current deals.
