Delta doesn’t do coupons. It runs no public promo codes, it doesn’t discount base fares for members, and its deals page is a list of sale fares rather than a coupon page. Anyone advertising a “Delta promo code” is selling you a click. What Delta does have is a predictable set of ways its fares get cheaper, and if you’re searching “deals on Delta flights” you are almost certainly looking for one of the five below.

1. Fare sales: where the real “deals” are
Delta posts sale fares on its Deals page and pushes them by email. They’re route-specific, have a book-by date, and usually cover travel a few weeks to a few months out on Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday departures. There is no code — the sale price is what the search shows for eligible dates. Delta also periodically runs system-wide sales (often around January and late summer) that touch most domestic routes.
Practical tip: Delta’s flexible-dates search and the price calendar are the fastest way to see which days carry the sale fare. If a fare drops after you book, Delta’s Main Cabin and above fares can be cancelled for an eCredit and rebooked at the lower price (Basic Economy cannot).
2. SkyMiles: what a mile is worth
Delta prices awards dynamically — there’s no chart, and the miles required track the cash price. Third-party analysts have typically valued SkyMiles at just over a cent each, which means a $300 domestic ticket usually runs 20,000–30,000 miles plus a small tax. The best value tends to appear on Delta’s periodic flash award sales (posted on the same Deals page) and on Delta’s own metal rather than partner awards. Miles don’t expire, so there’s no pressure to burn them on a bad rate.
3. The Amex cards and the Companion Certificate
Delta’s co-branded American Express cards are the most concrete Delta discount for frequent flyers:
- Free first checked bag for the cardholder and companions on the same reservation — the most common source of real savings.
- Welcome bonuses in SkyMiles after a spending requirement (amounts change; check Amex’s current offer).
- Companion Certificate (Platinum and Reserve cards): each cardmember year, one round-trip domestic companion ticket for the taxes and fees. On a $400 fare that certificate is the largest “coupon” Delta effectively offers. It has fare-class and route restrictions and must be booked through the certificate flow.
These cards carry annual fees; the math only works if you fly Delta enough for the bag benefit and certificate to exceed the fee. Card offers are published by American Express and change; we don’t quote current bonus amounts.
4. Delta Vacations
Delta’s package arm bundles flight and hotel. Because hotel margins are higher than airfare margins, packages are frequently priced below the sum of the parts, and Delta Vacations does run promo codes of its own (percentage or dollar off a package with minimum spend). This is the one place a “Delta promo code” can be legitimate — and it applies to packages, not flights.
5. Basic Economy: cheaper, with strings
Basic Economy is Delta’s lowest fare and appears in every search. What you give up: seat selection until check-in, changes and refunds (no eCredit on cancellation), and upgrade eligibility. You keep a full-size carry-on on domestic flights, which is better than most ultra-low-cost carriers. If you can live with the restrictions, it’s the discount.
