Hulu does not hand out promo codes for its student discount. The student deal is a plan, not a coupon: eligible U.S. college students who confirm their enrollment through SheerID can get the ad-supported Disney+, Hulu Student Bundle for $6.49 a month instead of the regular $12.99. Below we explain how that plan works, who qualifies, what happens when your student status lapses, and the other ways Hulu, Disney+, Spotify and one wireless carrier publish to cut the price of Hulu.

How the Hulu student discount works
The student offer on Hulu’s student page is no longer a Hulu-only plan. Hulu states that new subscribers can only sign up for the Disney+, Hulu Student Bundle discount. That bundle includes the ad-supported versions of both Hulu and Disney+, with access to both streaming libraries.
Price
The student bundle costs $6.49 a month plus applicable taxes. Hulu compares that with the regular price of the same ad-supported Disney+, Hulu Bundle, which is $12.99 a month, and describes the student rate as 50% off. In dollars, a student saves $6.50 a month, or $78 over 12 months, compared with paying the regular bundle price.
It is also cheaper than Hulu alone. Hulu lists its standalone Hulu (With Ads) plan at $12.49 a month, so the student bundle costs $6 a month less than the single-service plan while adding Disney+.
Ad-supported tier only
The discount applies only to the with-ads bundle. There is no student price for Hulu (No Ads), which Hulu lists at $21.49 a month on its own, or for the Disney+, Hulu Bundle Premium. Hulu’s student page also says there is no free trial when you sign up for the student bundle.
Who is eligible
Hulu’s terms say the offer is for U.S. residents aged 18 or older who are enrolled at a U.S. university or post-secondary degree- or certificate-granting accredited institution and who meet the verification requirements. Hulu’s student page does not use the phrase “Title IV.” That wording appears on Spotify’s student page instead (see below), so the two programs describe eligible schools differently.
Some people are excluded. According to Hulu’s terms, ESPN subscribers and subscribers to bundles billed through HBO Max cannot redeem the student offer. The offer is also available only for purchases billed directly through Disney+ or Hulu, so a Hulu subscription paid through a third party does not qualify.
Existing Hulu subscribers who are enrolled students can switch. If you are on a 6-month price-lock plan, Hulu says the student bundle starts when your current 6-month term ends.
Verification through SheerID
Hulu uses SheerID, a third-party verification service, to confirm enrollment. When you sign up, you enter your school name and email address, and SheerID checks your status. There is no code to copy; the discounted price is applied to the account once you are approved.
Re-verification every 12 months
Student status must be confirmed again each year. Hulu says subscribers who have had the student discount for 12 months receive an email asking them to re-verify. The discount can continue for as long as you are enrolled in college, provided each yearly check succeeds.
What happens after graduation
Hulu’s student page does not mention graduation directly. What it does say is that the discount lasts through your college enrollment, and that if student status is not properly verified, the account moves to the full-priced Disney+, Hulu Bundle (with ads). At the regular price shown on Hulu’s pages, that means your bill would go from $6.49 to $12.99 a month. Hulu says cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, with no refunds for partial months.
Spotify Premium Student with Hulu included
Spotify’s student page says its Premium Student plan currently includes access to Hulu (With Ads), subject to eligibility. After a one-month free trial of Premium, the plan costs $6.99 a month plus tax, billed by Spotify for both services.
Eligibility rules differ from Hulu’s own student offer:
- You must be over 18 and enrolled at an eligible U.S. Title IV accredited college or university, verified through SheerID.
- The trial is only for people who have not tried Premium before.
- The discount lasts up to 12 months from sign-up, and you can re-verify once every 12 months for up to three more 12-month periods, for a maximum of four years.
- An existing Hulu (With Ads) subscriber can use that account if they have no add-ons, pay Hulu directly, and switch billing to Spotify.
Spotify lists the standard prices as $12.99 a month for Premium and $12.49 a month for Hulu (With Ads). Those two figures add up to $25.48, so paying $6.99 would save $18.49 a month. Spotify’s page, however, describes the saving as “up to $17.99/month.” We could not reconcile that difference from the page itself.
Which student deal to choose: The Spotify plan suits students who already want music streaming and only need Hulu. Hulu’s own student bundle suits students who want Disney+ as well. The Hulu student offer must be billed directly by Disney+ or Hulu, while the Spotify version is billed by Spotify, so you would normally pick one or the other rather than stack them. Our Spotify Premium Student guide covers that plan in more detail.
Other ways to pay less for Hulu
Disney+, Hulu bundles (Duo Basic and Premium)
If you are not a student, the bundle is the most direct way to lower the per-service cost. The Disney+ plans page lists the Disney+, Hulu Bundle (with ads), often called Duo Basic, at $12.99 a month, and the ad-free Disney+, Hulu Bundle Premium at $21.99 a month. Both have a 6-month price-lock option: $11.99 a month for the first 6 months on the basic bundle ($71.94 total) and $19.99 a month for the first 6 months on Premium ($119.94 total). On the basic bundle, the price lock saves $6 over six months compared with paying $12.99 each month.
Compared with Hulu (With Ads) alone at $12.49, the basic bundle adds Disney+ for an extra 50 cents a month.
Trio and larger bundles
The Disney+ plans page lists the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited bundle at $35.99 a month ($44.99 Premium) and Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max bundles at $21.99 with ads or $34.99 without. These only save money if you would otherwise pay for those services separately.
Annual billing for Hulu (With Ads)
Hulu’s annual plan charges $124.99 a year for Hulu (With Ads). Twelve months at $12.49 come to $149.88, so annual billing saves $24.89, about $10.42 a month. It is charged up front, renews yearly unless cancelled, and forfeits any trial or promotional pricing.
Hulu + Live TV
Hulu’s Live TV page lists Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV, which includes Disney+ and ESPN Select, at $99.99 a month after a 3-day free trial “if any.” The version with an ad-free Hulu library is $109.99 a month; live channels still carry ads. Hulu says Live TV is available only in the 50 states and Washington, D.C. If you are comparing live TV services, our YouTube TV deals explainer walks through how that service prices its plans.
Verizon plan perk
Verizon’s own terms page describes a “Disney+ Premium, Hulu, ESPN+” plan perk for $15 a month, with Hulu (With Ads) and ESPN+ (With Ads). It lists eligible plans including Unlimited Welcome, Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Ultimate phone plans and several Verizon home internet plans (Fios Classic Standalone excluded). Verizon says the offer may end without notice. The page still uses the ESPN+ name, so check the current details in your Verizon account before adding it. Our Verizon discounts guide covers the carrier’s other programs.
Promotions: Black Friday and limited-time offers
Hulu’s Black Friday guide states that its previous Black Friday deal has ended, and it does not announce a new one. The only dated promotion we found on Hulu’s main sign-up page, $9.99 for one month of the ad-supported Disney+, Hulu Bundle, ended at 1:00 PM PST on Feb 17, 2026. We have not found a current Black Friday offer published on hulu.com. If Hulu posts one, it will appear on its own pages with dates and terms.
How to save without a coupon
- Verify as a student first. If you are enrolled, $6.49 for Disney+ and Hulu with ads is the lowest Hulu price we found on Hulu’s own pages.
- Pick the bundle over Hulu alone. At $12.99, the basic Disney+, Hulu Bundle costs 50 cents more than Hulu (With Ads) by itself.
- Use the 6-month price lock or annual billing if you know you will keep the service. Both lower the effective monthly price, but you give up some flexibility to cancel.
- Check what you already pay for. A Spotify Premium Student subscription or an eligible Verizon plan may already cover Hulu (With Ads).
- Set a reminder before your 12-month re-verification. Missing it moves the account to the regular bundle price.

What we could not verify
- Hulu’s help center (help.hulu.com) did not load for us, so we could not read its student-plan and Spotify billing articles. Details on this page come from Hulu’s plan and offer pages.
- Hulu’s student page does not address graduation directly.
- We could not confirm whether existing subscribers on Hulu’s older Hulu-only student plan keep that price. Hulu’s page says only that new subscribers can join the student bundle.
- Hulu’s pages conflict on the bundle price: plan cards show $12.99, while other lines quote $21.99 or $10.99. We used $12.99, which matches the Disney+ plans page.
- One Hulu footnote uses an $11.99 Hulu price; Hulu’s no-ads and annual pages and Spotify list $12.49. We used $12.49.
- Spotify’s stated saving (“up to $17.99/month”) does not match the prices it lists.
- Verizon’s perk page uses the older ESPN+ name; we did not confirm how that perk is currently presented in Verizon accounts.
- Apart from Spotify and Verizon, we did not review other carriers’ or partners’ pages for Hulu offers.
