Student Discounts Master List: Every Published Program by Category, and How Verification Actually Works

Last checked: September 13, 2026. This is a standing resource, updated as programs change. Every entry names the merchant’s own program; “verified” here means the merchant publishes the discount on its own site, not that we tested a checkout. Most programs require verification through a third-party service (SheerID, ID.me, UNiDAYS or Student Beans) or a .edu email.

Student discounts are the most reliable category of discount that exists, because they’re programs rather than promotions: the merchant publishes the terms, the eligibility is checked by a verification service, and the offer doesn’t expire on Sunday. They’re also the most under-used, because most students assume the discount is 10% off at a bookstore. Some of these are worth hundreds of dollars a year. This list is organized by category and limited to programs the merchant itself publishes.

How verification works

Four services handle most of it. SheerID and ID.me check enrollment against school records after you submit your name, school and date of birth (sometimes a document). UNiDAYS and Student Beans are membership platforms: verify once, then unlock every partner store’s offer through their app or site. A .edu email is enough for some programs but not most. Verification usually needs renewing annually.

The pattern: verify once on the platform, then find the store in the platform’s directory. Percentages and participation change; the platform directory is the source of truth.

  • Auto insurers (State Farm, Allstate, Geico, Progressive and others) publish good-student discounts, typically requiring a B average and proof.
  • Costco and Sam’s Club have periodically run student membership promotions through UNiDAYS or Student Beans; check the platforms.

Fitness

Planet Fitness’s free High School Summer Pass runs each summer for teens (see details). Most gyms and studios offer student rates locally but don’t publish them nationally — ask.

How to use this list

  1. Verify on UNiDAYS and Student Beans once. Both are free and unlock the majority of retail offers.
  2. Set up SheerID and ID.me profiles; the big subscription programs use them.
  3. Start with the subscription stack — music, Prime, Adobe, software. That’s where the real annual savings are.
  4. Mark renewal dates. Most student pricing requires annual re-verification and reverts silently.

What we could not verify

Exact percentages at apparel retailers change frequently and are shown inside the verification platforms; we describe the program rather than quoting a rate that will be stale. Merchant pages linked above carry the specifics we have checked.
