If you searched “teacher discount Verizon,” here is the short answer: there is no promo code to type in. Verizon runs its teacher, military, first responder, nurse and student discounts as account-level programs. You confirm eligibility once through ID.me and the credit then shows up on your bill. On Verizon’s current Unlimited plans (Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome), the published amount for teachers, nurses, first responders and students is $10 a month off with 1 line or $25 a month off with 2 lines. On the Simplicity Plan, it is 10% per eligible line.
The military schedule differs slightly, the 55+ deal is Florida-only, and Verizon allows only one of these group discounts per account. So the real question is which single program fits your account, and how it combines with Auto Pay.

The teacher discount at Verizon
The Verizon teacher discount covers currently employed K–12 teachers and post-secondary instructors. Retired teachers, spouses and non-teaching staff such as aides and administrators can’t use it. The teacher has to be the Account Owner or an Account Manager, and the account needs at least one smartphone or basic phone on a qualifying plan.
What it is worth
- Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus, Unlimited Welcome: $10 a month off for 1 line, or $25 a month off for 2 lines.
- Simplicity Plan: 10% off each eligible line.
- Some legacy plans qualify if bought on or after 6/18/18. Prepaid, already-discounted and promotional plans are excluded.
Over a year, the math is simple. One line saves $120 ($10 × 12). Two lines save $300 ($25 × 12) ($12.50 per line per month). Verizon’s teacher page doesn’t publish an amount for 3 or more lines on the Unlimited plans, so don’t assume the $25 grows if you add a third line.
How verification works
You validate your teaching job when you register. Some states require a teaching certificate. The Fios version of the program names Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. Renewal happens about once a year and is automatic if your ID.me information is current. If you don’t renew within 30 days after your renewal date, you lose the discount.
Fios home internet for teachers
Verizon’s Fios page lists a 10% monthly discount on Fios home internet for eligible teachers. To see it, Verizon points you to the 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps or Gigabit Connection plans. Fios is only sold in parts of the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Washington, DC. For more education-focused savings, see our teacher discounts master list.
The Verizon military discount
The Verizon military discount covers US active duty, retirees, veterans, current or former Guard and Reserve members, and Gold Star family members and next of kin. Gold Star members validate with a DD Form 214. You verify through ID.me on Verizon’s military page or at a Verizon store. Verizon’s FAQ says no annual renewal is required, and its military landing page says eligible members generally keep the discount for life, though Verizon may occasionally ask you to re-verify.
What it is worth
- Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus, Unlimited Welcome and several other listed plans: $10 per account with 1 phone, $25 with 2–3 phones, $20 with 4 or more phones.
- Simplicity Plan: 10% per eligible line.
- Most other advertised plans: 15% off the plan’s account access charges.
- Accessories: 25% off when you order through My Verizon, 10% off in a store. Apple products are excluded.
A household with 3 phones on Unlimited Plus gets $25 a month, or $300 a year. Adding a fourth phone lowers the published military credit to $20. For Fios, Verizon’s military landing page shows plans starting at $26/mo for 300 Mbps with Auto Pay (a $99 setup charge may apply). More military-specific deals are in our military discounts master list.
First responders and nurses
The first responder program covers state and local firefighters, EMTs, EMS personnel and police (including troopers and sheriffs), whether active, retired or volunteer, plus next of kin of responders killed in action. Federal law enforcement isn’t eligible. Nurses have their own program: currently employed LPNs, LVNs, NPs and RNs, plus respiratory therapists, with a valid NPI number. Retirees aren’t eligible.
The published amounts for both groups match the teacher program: $10 a month for 1 line or $25 a month for 2 lines on Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome, and 10% per line on Simplicity. The first responder FAQ adds 15% off the account access fee on legacy and other standard plans when that fee is $34.99 or higher. Both programs renew yearly under the same 30-day rule as teachers.
College students
Students actively enrolled at a US college, graduate, vocational or online program can get the same $10 (1 line) or $25 (2 lines) on the three current Unlimited plans, or 10% per line on Simplicity. The rules are tighter, though:
- The discount covers at most 2 phone lines. Adding a third phone line ends it, though watches and tablets don’t count against you.
- It lasts up to 4 years in total, and the years don’t have to be consecutive.
- The student must be the Account Owner or Manager. A parent can’t put it on a family plan for a child.
Verizon’s student landing page also shows Fios starting at $26/mo for 300 Mbps with Auto Pay, and says students can pair the discount with the Mobile + Home bundle. If you’re stacking student perks, our guide to the Spotify Premium Student discount and the student discounts master list cover other places that verify enrollment.
Seniors: the Florida 55+ discount
Verizon’s 55+ offer applies only in Florida. The Account Owner must be 55 or older (checked against the date of birth on the credit application) and must have a Florida billing address and an Unlimited Welcome plan. It takes $20 a month off with 1 line or $30 a month off with 2 lines, and covers up to 2 lines. Auto Pay isn’t required for the 55+ discount, but Auto Pay can add up to $10 per line per month on top. A separate Florida 55+ Mobile + Home Discount takes $16 a month off qualifying 5G or LTE home internet. Seniors elsewhere should look at our senior discounts master list.
How Auto Pay fits in
Every program page says you “may also be eligible” for the Auto Pay and paper-free billing discount. Verizon’s Auto Pay page lists up to $10 per line per month on Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome, and up to $5 on older plans such as 5G Start and 5G Do More. You have to enroll with a bank account or a Verizon Visa Card. Debit cards only count if you enrolled before 2/14/24.
The teacher, nurse and first responder pages don’t explicitly say the two discounts combine. The student page lists Auto Pay as a separate offer students may also get, and the 55+ page clearly adds them together. If both apply, 2 lines on Unlimited Welcome would be up to $20 in Auto Pay credits plus $25 from the group discount. That’s our arithmetic from Verizon’s published numbers, not a figure Verizon quotes.
On Simplicity, Verizon lists $45/month per line with Auto Pay and paper-free billing, or $55 without. Its group landing pages advertise “as low as $27/line” after Auto Pay and Switch & Save, which matches 10% off a $30 line.
Are there Verizon promo codes?
For these programs, no. None of the program pages mention a code. Verizon says the discount doesn’t show in the shopping cart. It appears at the final step of the order and on your bill within 1–2 billing cycles. The one real code program we found is Friends & Family. There, a Verizon employee shares a code that you enter online. It’s limited to new customers who bring a number, and it can’t be combined with teacher, student, nurse, military or first responder discounts.
How to save at Verizon without a coupon
- Pick one program carefully. You can hold only one of the military, teacher, nurse or first responder discounts per account. If you qualify for more than one and have 2–3 phones, the military schedule ($25 for 2–3 phones) publishes a 3-line amount. The others don’t.
- Match the plan to the discount. The $10/$25 amounts apply only to Unlimited Ultimate, Plus and Welcome. Prepaid and promotional plans get nothing.
- Turn on Auto Pay with a bank account to get up to $10 per line on current Unlimited plans.
- Keep ID.me current so the yearly renewal runs automatically and you don’t hit the 30-day cutoff.
- Bundle home internet if it’s available where you live. Verizon lists a standard $15/month Mobile + Home Discount on home internet.
- For layering store-side savings on accessories, see how to stack coupons, cashback and rewards.
What we could not verify
- No checkout tests were done. Amounts come only from Verizon’s pages.
- 3+ lines: The teacher, nurse, first responder and student pages give amounts only for 1 and 2 lines. The military FAQ gives $25 for 2–3 phones and $20 for 4+ phones. It also says the discount applies to “up to 4 mobile lines,” which sits awkwardly next to the 4+ tier.
- Simplicity 10%: The program FAQs say 10% per line, but Verizon’s Simplicity FAQ doesn’t mention a 10% group discount. It also doesn’t say whether the 10% is figured before or after Auto Pay.
- Nurse status change: The nurse landing page says the discount continues for the rest of the year if your status changes. The nurse FAQ stresses yearly re-validation and losing the discount after 30 days. The two pages read differently.
- Fios dollar amounts: The teacher Fios page gives 10% but no dollar figures. First responder Fios amounts aren’t stated at all.
- Whether Auto Pay explicitly stacks with the teacher, nurse and first responder discounts isn’t stated on those pages.
FAQ
How much is the Verizon teacher discount?
On Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Welcome, it’s $10 a month with 1 line or $25 a month with 2 lines. On the Simplicity Plan, it’s 10% per eligible line. Amounts vary by plan.
Can I combine the teacher and military discounts?
No. Verizon allows only one of the military, teacher, nurse or first responder discounts on an account at a time.
Do retired teachers or nurses qualify?
No. Both programs require current employment. Retired military and retired first responders are eligible under their own programs.
How do I prove eligibility?
Through ID.me. Teachers may need a state teaching certificate, nurses enter their NPI number, and Gold Star families use a DD Form 214. Military members can also sign up in a Verizon store.
Is the 55+ plan available outside Florida?
Not for new sign-ups. The current 55+ discount requires a Florida billing address. Older 55+ plans elsewhere can be kept but no longer added.
