Cyber Monday Deals Guide: How Cyber Week Works, Price-Match Rules, Holiday Returns and Travel Fares

Short answer: there is no single Cyber Monday coupon code that works across stores. The savings come from each retailer’s own sale event, plus the standing policies that protect you after you buy: price-adjustment windows, holiday price guarantees, and extended holiday return periods. Know those rules before you check out, and a Cyber Monday purchase becomes much lower-risk.

How Cyber Monday actually works

Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving. It started as the online counterpart to Black Friday’s in-store doorbusters. Now most large retailers run Black Friday pricing online for a week or more, then rename the event for the Monday.

The published calendars show this plainly:

  • Walmart lists three separate events: Early Black Friday Deals (November 12–15), Black Friday Deals (November 23–29), and a Cyber Monday event on Walmart.com from November 30 through December 2.
  • Best Buy runs ten days of Black Friday doorbusters starting Nov. 19, then a “Cyber Sunday and Monday Sale Event,” then “Cyber Week Deals” from Dec. 1–6.
  • Amazon says on its own news site that Cyber Monday falls on November 30, 2026.
  • Target has announced that its early Black Friday deals run Nov. 5–7, followed by limited-time offers every weekend of the season.

In practice, “Cyber Monday” often means “Cyber Week.”

How it differs from Black Friday

Black Friday leans on doorbusters: specific items at a set price, often limited to stock on hand. Cyber Monday leans online, with more category or sitewide promotions. That varies by store, so judge each offer on its own terms.

Which categories are worth watching, and which aren’t

Retailers had not published Cyber Monday item lists when we checked, so these are places where checking pays off, not promises:

  • Electronics: TVs, laptops, headphones, and smart-home devices are the center of most retailer holiday calendars, including Best Buy’s.
  • Travel fares: airlines run fare sales on their own schedules (see below).
  • Software and subscriptions: streaming, cloud storage, and app subscriptions sometimes offer first-term discounts. Read the renewal price.
  • Apparel: sitewide percent-off promotions are common online. Check whether the percentage stacks with existing markdowns.

Be skeptical of items that are discounted constantly and “holiday edition” models that exist only during the event.

Check the price history before you trust the “was” price

A struck-through “was” price tells you what the retailer chose to show, not what the item usually sells for. Before buying:

  1. Note the exact model number and color; price matching requires an identical item.
  2. Check the same item at two or three other retailers on the same day, and against prices you saw in the weeks before. Early events start weeks ahead, so the Cyber Monday price may not be new.
  3. Check who the seller is. Best Buy and Walmart both exclude third-party Marketplace sellers from price matching, and Marketplace items can have different return terms.

Price-adjustment and price-match policies at major retailers

Best Buy

Best Buy’s Price Match Guarantee matches “key online and local competitors” from a Qualified Competitors list, at the time of sale. One rule matters a lot for Cyber Monday: competitor offers from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after are excluded, along with items marked “Black Friday pricing.” That means you generally can’t take a competitor’s Cyber Monday price to Best Buy.

What Best Buy does offer is a Holiday Price Match Guarantee on its own prices. Most items bought from Oct. 30 through Dec. 31 can be matched to a lower Best Buy price through Jan. 15. Marketplace items, contract phones, AppleCare+ plans, holiday decorations, and non-returnable products are excluded. For more on Best Buy savings, see our Best Buy military discount explainer.

Target

Target’s Price Match Guarantee covers lower prices at Target only: Target.com, Target stores, and Target Circle deals. You can request a match at purchase or within 14 days after. Exclusions include clearance, Target Circle Bonuses, gift-card offers, Target coupons, and other Target stores’ prices. Target’s price match page also says screenshots are not accepted. Our Target Circle coupons explainer covers how Circle offers work.

Walmart

Walmart’s price-match answer says that items bought in a Walmart U.S. store can be matched to the identical item’s Walmart.com price, with restrictions, and the on-duty store manager makes the final call. On Walmart.com, Walmart does not price match. It doesn’t match competitors or Marketplace sellers, or adjust online purchases after a price drop. Its help-center policy says the same.

Amazon

We could not load Amazon’s return-policy help page, and we found no Amazon page describing a price-adjustment program, so we make no claims about either here. See the “What we could not verify” section, and our Amazon coupons explainer for how Amazon’s clippable coupons work.

Holiday return windows

  • Best Buy: most purchases made Oct. 30 through Dec. 31 can be returned through Jan. 15, 2027, or through Jan. 31, 2027 for My Best Buy Plus and Total members. Some categories are excluded.
  • Target: Target’s holiday help page still described last season’s extended window when we checked. The current season’s window was not posted.
  • Walmart and Amazon: neither had published a current-season holiday return extension on the pages we checked.

Cyber Monday travel and flight deals

Airlines publish fare sales on their own deals pages, on their own schedules. Watch those pages directly:

Before booking any sale fare, check change and refund rules, bag fees, and blackout dates. Hotel and package shoppers can also compare Priceline’s own offers.

How to spot fake doorbuster urgency

  • Resetting countdown timers: if it restarts on reload, it isn’t a deadline.
  • “Only 3 left” on Marketplace listings: check who actually sells and ships it.
  • Inflated “was” prices: compare other retailers, not the listing’s claim.
  • Event-only model numbers: a model you can’t find anywhere else can’t be compared or price-matched.

Honest math: what the policies are worth

These figures use only the terms each retailer published.

  • Best Buy holiday price match: a Best Buy item bought on Cyber Monday can be matched to a lower Best Buy price through Jan. 15. That’s about 46 days of protection against Best Buy’s own price drops. The extended return window covers the same period, or about 62 days through Jan. 31, 2027 for Plus and Total members.
  • Target price match: a Target purchase gets 14 days.
  • Walmart.com: zero days. Walmart does not adjust Walmart.com purchases after a price drop.
  • Travel: at Southwest’s starting fare of $59 each way, a round trip would have been $118 per traveler, only where that fare was available.

A long price-protection window can be worth more than a slightly lower price at a store with no adjustment policy.

How to save without a coupon

  • Shop the event, not a code. Walmart, Best Buy, and Target all price their holiday events automatically, with no code needed.
  • Put a calendar reminder on the last day of each price-adjustment window: 14 days for Target, and Jan. 15 for Best Buy’s holiday price match.
  • Use memberships you already pay for. Walmart+ gets early access to some Black Friday Deal drops, and Best Buy Plus and Total members earn double rewards through 12/6/2026 and get a longer holiday return window.
  • Buy from the retailer itself, not a Marketplace seller, to keep price-match protection.

What we could not verify

  • Amazon Cyber Monday deals: not yet announced on Amazon’s own pages. Amazon confirms only the date.
  • Amazon holiday return extension for the current season: not yet announced. Last season’s terms were published, but we don’t assume they repeat.
  • Amazon standard return and price-adjustment terms: Amazon’s help page could not be retrieved.
  • Target Cyber Monday offers: not yet announced.
  • Target current-season holiday return window: not yet posted. The help page still showed last season’s dates.
  • Walmart Cyber Monday item-level deals and any Walmart+ early access for the Cyber Monday event: not yet announced.
  • Best Buy exact Cyber Sunday and Monday dates and doorbuster items: the event is announced, but item-level deals are not published.
  • Airline Cyber Monday fare sales at Southwest, Delta, and Frontier: not yet announced.
  • Any sitewide Cyber Monday coupon code at these retailers: none found on their own pages.

FAQ

When is Cyber Monday?

It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving. Amazon’s news site puts it on November 30, 2026, and Walmart’s Cyber Monday event runs November 30 through December 2 on Walmart.com.

Is there a Cyber Monday coupon code?

Not one that works across stores. The retailers covered here run their holiday events as automatic pricing, with no code needed. Any store-specific code would appear on that store’s own site.

Will Best Buy match a competitor’s Cyber Monday price?

Generally no. Best Buy’s Price Match Guarantee excludes competitor offers from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after. Its Holiday Price Match Guarantee covers drops in Best Buy’s own price through Jan. 15.

Can I get a refund if the price drops at Target after Cyber Monday?

If Target’s own price on the identical item drops within 14 days of your purchase, you can request a price match, subject to Target’s exclusions, such as clearance items and Target coupons.

Are Cyber Monday flight deals real?

Airlines do run fare sales, but on their own schedules. None of the airline deals pages we checked had announced a Cyber Monday sale. Southwest’s most recent holiday sale ended before Cyber Monday.
