Short answer: when we checked H&M’s US site, we did not find a public promo code that anyone can type in at checkout. The savings H&M does publish come from a few other places. Its free membership program gives a 10% welcome offer, points that turn into $5 rewards, and a lower free shipping threshold. The site also runs no-code sales, and a student discount sits behind a Student Beans verification link. So if you are searching for a promo code for H&M, the practical move is to join the member program before your first order and then shop the sale and deals pages. A copied code from somewhere else is unlikely to help.
H&M’s own pages don’t always agree with each other on the numbers. We found several conflicts, including the member free shipping minimum and how many points earn a reward. Where pages disagree, we show both figures and tell you which page says what.
Offers at a glance
| Offer | Code needed? | Status | Expiration | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| H&M membership: free to join, 1 point per $1, $5 rewards (200 or 250 points; see conflict) | No | merchant_direct | None stated | H&M Loyalty Program page |
| Member welcome offer: 10% off (page says both “first” and “next” purchase) | No public code (offer appears in My Account) | merchant-listed | None stated | H&M Loyalty Program page |
| Free standard shipping: members over $50, non-members over $75 ($6.99 below) | No | merchant_direct | None stated | H&M Delivery & Shipping page |
| Free Ship to Store (all shoppers) | No | merchant_direct | None stated | H&M Order & Delivery page |
| Student discount: “Students Get 10% Off” via Student Beans | Issued after student verification | merchant-listed | None stated | H&M Women’s Offers & Deals page |
| “Up to 30% off fall essentials” (women’s deals) | No code listed | merchant-listed | None stated | H&M Women’s Offers & Deals page |
| “The Halloween Edit: Up to 50% off” (kids, home and beauty menus) | No code listed | merchant-listed | None stated | H&M Sale page |
| Sale section: marked-down items, badges from about 20% to 72% off | No | merchant-listed | None stated | H&M Sale page |
| Garment recycling: 15% off coupon per bag of unwanted clothes | Coupon issued | unverified | None stated | H&M Loyalty Program page |
| Member birthday offer (no value stated) | No | unverified | None stated | H&M Loyalty Program page |
None of these offers showed an end date on H&M’s pages at last check, and nothing we found had already expired.
H&M membership: the closest thing to a standing promo code
H&M’s member program is free, needs no purchase, and is open to people 16 and older (the terms say under-18s need parental consent). It is limited to the US, and the terms say points and rewards cannot be earned or used at H&M stores in Puerto Rico. Most of H&M’s ongoing discounts run through this program, so it is the first thing to set up if you shop there more than once.
The 10% welcome offer
H&M’s loyalty page says new members get 10% off, delivered to the My Account area within 24 hours of signing up. There is no public code to copy. The offer is tied to your account. One wrinkle: the same page calls it “10% off your first purchase” in one place and “10% off your next purchase” in another. If you have bought from H&M before as a guest, we can’t tell you for sure whether the offer still applies. Check your account after joining.
Worked example: on a $60 order, 10% off saves $6, bringing the order to $54. That is still above the $50 member free shipping line on H&M’s delivery pages, so in that example you would get both the discount and free shipping. On a $52 order, though, 10% off drops you to $46.80. Whether that ships free depends on which member threshold applies (see the shipping section).
Points and $5 rewards
The loyalty page says members earn 1 point per $1 spent, online or in store. Gift cards don’t earn points, and the loyalty page also excludes charity items. Rewards arrive in My Account 30 days after you cross the threshold. The two H&M pages we read disagree on that threshold:
- The loyalty program page says “200 points = $5 Reward.”
- The membership terms and conditions say a $5 bonus voucher is issued at 250 points.
The math under each version:
| Version | Spend for one $5 reward | Effective return |
|---|---|---|
| Loyalty page (200 points) | $200 | 2.5% |
| Terms and conditions (250 points) | $250 | 2% |
Either way, points are a small return. A $100 order earns 100 points, half a reward at most. The terms cap vouchers at 5 a month and 60 a year, and an in-store voucher must be used within 15 minutes of activation. If you return an item bought with a voucher, you get back only what you actually paid, and the points from that item are taken back.
Points are tied to your membership year, which starts on the day you join. The terms say points toward a voucher stay valid until your next start date, so points you haven’t redeemed by your join anniversary can be lost.
Member vs. Plus
H&M has two tiers. Everyone starts at the base level, which the delivery pages call “Core.” Plus adds free shipping on every order, free shipping and returns, surprise offers and early access to some collections, according to the loyalty page. That page gives two different thresholds for reaching Plus: 500 points in two places and 600 points in another. The terms and conditions don’t state a number. Once you reach Plus, you keep it for the rest of that membership year and the following one.
Shipping costs and the free shipping threshold
Both of H&M’s US delivery pages list the same prices:
- Standard (3 to 6 business days): free over $50 for members, free over $75 for non-members, otherwise $6.99.
- UPS Access Point: same thresholds and $6.99 fee as standard.
- Express (2 to 3 business days): $14.99.
- Next-day (1 to 2 business days): $24.99.
- Ship to Store: free for everyone.
- Same-day pickup: free at select stores only.
The loyalty program page says something different: “Free shipping over $25” for members. We could not confirm which number checkout actually uses, so plan around the $50 figure from the delivery pages.
Worked example: a $60 cart costs $6.99 to ship as a guest, because it is under $75, and ships free if you are signed in as a member. On that order, joining saves $6.99 before the welcome offer. If you don’t need the order at home, Ship to Store is free whatever your cart total.
Returns
H&M’s return policy page gives you 30 days. In-store returns are free at US stores (not Puerto Rico) with a receipt and tags attached. Mail-in returns of online orders carry a flat $5.99 fee taken out of your refund, and original shipping charges are not refunded. Refunds go back to the original payment method.
This conflicts with the loyalty page, which lists “free online returns” as a member benefit. The return policy page doesn’t mention any member exception. If you want to avoid the $5.99 fee for certain, return the item in a store.
Student discount
H&M’s US menus and footer show “Students Get 10% Off,” and the link goes to a Student Beans verification page. That is how H&M checks student status and issues the discount. The link’s web address contains “get-15-off” while its label says 10%. We went with the visible label. We didn’t see the full student terms (exclusions, how often it can be used) on an H&M page. For other retailers, our student discounts master list collects programs we have checked.
Sales and deals pages
At last check, H&M’s US sale section showed more than a thousand women’s items with badges ranging from about 20% to 72% off, and no code needed. The women’s deals page led with “Up to 30% off fall essentials.” The kids, home and beauty menus advertised “The Halloween Edit: Up to 50% off.” None of these listed an end date or terms. “Up to” means only some items reach the top discount.
Worked example: if an item tagged $40 shows a 30% badge, the sale price should be $28. At last check, some badges on H&M’s sale page did not match the listed prices, so trust the price in your bag over the badge.
Garment recycling vouchers
H&M’s loyalty page still says members earn “a 15% off coupon for every bag of unwanted clothes you bring us.” H&M’s US garment collecting pages describe the program and name its sorting partners, Looper Textile Co. and REMONDIS. When we read those pages, though, we saw no voucher terms: no minimum purchase, no limit and no expiry. Because the voucher appears on one page and isn’t confirmed in the program’s own terms, we list it as unverified. Ask at your store before you bring a bag in expecting a coupon.
Gift cards
Gift cards are not a discount, but H&M’s gift card page says they don’t expire and carry no inactivity fees. They hold up to $300 and work in US and Canadian stores and online in the US only. A card left at a zero balance for 90 days or more stops working. Gift card purchases earn no points.
How to save at H&M without a promo code
- Join before your first order. Membership is free and unlocks the 10% welcome offer and a lower free shipping threshold.
- Use Ship to Store for small orders. It is free whatever your cart total, which beats paying $6.99.
- Return in store. In-store returns are free, while mail-in returns cost $5.99.
- Start on the sale and deals pages. These discounts need no code.
- Verify through Student Beans if you are a student.
- Don’t chase points. At a 2% to 2.5% return, they are a small bonus, not a reason to buy.

What we could not verify
- A public H&M promo code. We found none on H&M’s US pages.
- Member free shipping minimum. $25 on the loyalty page, $50 on both delivery pages.
- Points per $5 reward. 200 on the loyalty page, 250 in the terms and conditions.
- Plus threshold. 500 and 600 points both appear on the loyalty page. The terms give no figure.
- Welcome offer wording. “First purchase” and “next purchase” both appear.
- Member returns. The loyalty page promises free online returns. The return policy charges $5.99 on all mail-in returns.
- Student discount amount and terms. The label says 10%, the link address says 15%, and we didn’t see the full terms on H&M’s site.
- Recycling voucher. It is listed on the loyalty page, but the garment collecting pages show no voucher terms.
- Birthday offer value. H&M mentions a birthday treat but doesn’t say what it is.
- Sale end dates and terms. None were shown for the sale section, the fall essentials deal or the Halloween Edit.
- Military and teacher discounts. We found none published on H&M’s US site.
FAQ
Is there a promo code for H&M right now?
We found no public code on H&M’s US site at last check. The main published discount is the 10% welcome offer for new members, which appears in your account rather than as a code to share.
How much is H&M’s member discount?
New members get 10% off, according to H&M’s loyalty page. After that, members earn 1 point per $1 toward $5 rewards. H&M’s pages say a reward takes either 200 or 250 points.
What is H&M’s free shipping minimum?
H&M’s delivery pages say $50 for members and $75 for non-members, with $6.99 charged below those amounts. The loyalty page says $25 for members. Ship to Store is free for everyone.
Does H&M charge for returns?
In-store returns are free. The return policy deducts $5.99 from mail-in returns of online orders, though the loyalty page lists free online returns as a member perk.
Do H&M gift cards expire?
No. H&M says its cards don’t expire and have no inactivity fees, but a card left at a zero balance for 90 days or more becomes invalid.
