There is no public promo code that takes money off a Sam’s Club membership. On the pages we reviewed, Club costs $60 a year and Plus costs $120 a year, and Plus now includes a Walmart+ membership at no extra charge. The real discounts on a Sam’s Club membership are eligibility-based new-member offers for groups such as military, teachers, students, seniors and SNAP/EBT recipients, a military renewal item, and paying your renewal with Sam’s Cash. We could not read the terms of those discount programs, so we do not quote a price for any of them.
Sam’s Club is Walmart’s warehouse club, and you need a paid membership to shop it. The right tier depends on how much you will spend, not on a coupon.

Club vs. Plus: what the two membership prices buy
Sam’s Club’s join page lists two tiers. Club is $60 a year. Plus is $120 a year and is now sold as “Two memberships, one price,” because it includes Walmart+.
The join page table shows both tiers get member prices, Instant Savings, member fuel prices, a second card, Scan & Go and free curbside pickup. Plus adds:
- Up to 2% Sam’s Cash on eligible purchases.
- Free delivery and shipping at Sam’s Club. Walmart’s announcement footnotes a $50 minimum for Sam’s delivery orders.
- Early shopping hours and early online access to deals.
- Free pharmacy delivery and pharmacy, optical, hearing, tire and pet prescription savings.
- The Walmart+ benefits: free delivery from Walmart ($35 minimum), a choice of Peacock or Paramount+ (one ad-supported service every 90 days), and fuel savings of 10 cents a gallon at participating stations (5 to 10 cents in Alabama).
The join page’s “Over $700/year” savings claim is, per its footnote, an average for long-term members of both programs, not a promise.
Is Plus worth the extra $60? Our math
Example (our math, not a Sam’s Club quote): Plus costs $60 more than Club. At 2% Sam’s Cash, you need about $3,000 a year in eligible Sam’s Club spending (roughly $250 a month) for the Sam’s Cash alone to cover that $60 gap. The $750 yearly cap is reached only at $37,500 of eligible spending.
Example (our math): Walmart’s Walmart+ page lists the annual plan at $98. A shopper paying $98 for Walmart+ and $60 for a Club membership spends $158 a year. The combined Plus membership is $120, or $38 less. Walmart says most members already paying for both can get a prorated Walmart+ refund after linking accounts.
Discounted Sam’s Club memberships: military, teachers, students, seniors and SNAP/EBT
This is the honest answer to most “discount for Sam’s Club membership” searches. Sam’s Club runs eligibility-based offers for new members, not codes. Its membership offers page describes ways “military, teachers, first responders, students, and more can save on new memberships,” and the Sam’s Club help center has separate articles titled:

We could not read those articles or the offers page details, so we cannot tell you the price, tier, verification method or whether a discount carries over to renewal. Read the article for your group before you join.

Discount for renewing a Sam’s Club membership
We found no general renewal discount or renewal code on Sam’s Club’s own pages. What does exist:
- Pay with Sam’s Cash. Sam’s Club’s Sam’s Cash page says you can redeem it toward membership fees. A Plus member who earns $120 or more in Sam’s Cash in a year can cover the whole next fee with it.
- A military renewal item. Samsclub.com has a product called “MILITARY MBRSHIP RENEW$15.” The page shows no price, no eligibility rules and no terms, so we treat the $15 in its name as unconfirmed.
- Past renewal bonuses have ended. Sam’s Club’s fee FAQ describes a $5 (Club) or $10 (Plus) Sam’s Cash bonus for renewing, which ran through 10/16/2023. It is over.
Example (our math): A Plus member spending $500 a month on eligible items earns about $120 a year in 2% Sam’s Cash, enough to cover the next $120 fee.
Sam’s Cash and the Sam’s Club Mastercard
Sam’s Cash is the store’s reward balance. Sam’s Club’s page says it can be used in club, online, toward membership fees, or cashed out, and that it “never expires as long as you’re an active member.” The card terms say the balance is forfeited if the membership ends, so spend it before you cancel.
The Sam’s Club Mastercard terms list these Sam’s Cash rates:
- 5% at gas stations and EV charging stations on the first $6,000 spent each calendar year, then 1%.
- 3% at restaurants.
- 3% on eligible Sam’s Club purchases for Plus members (including Scan & Go and samsclub.com).
- 1% on other eligible purchases, including Sam’s Club purchases by Club (non-Plus) members.
- A maximum of $5,000 in card-earned Sam’s Cash per calendar year.
Exclusions include tobacco, prescriptions, fees and gift cards. This is not a recommendation to open a credit account.
Example (our math): A Club member who puts $1,200 a year of gas on the card earns $60 in Sam’s Cash at 5%, the same as the Club fee, assuming the account stays in good standing.
Fuel, Scan & Go, curbside and Instant Savings
Fuel. Sam’s Club fuel center pages describe “Members-only access and pricing.” Both tiers get member fuel prices. Plus adds the Walmart+ fuel discount at participating stations.
Scan & Go. The app feature lets you scan and pay on your phone to skip the checkout line. Sam’s Club says it works for in-club purchases, cafe orders and fuel. The join page shows it for both tiers.
Curbside pickup. Free for both Club and Plus, per the join page table.
Instant Savings. Member markdowns that need no code, listed for both tiers. We could not load the current event’s dates.
Refunds, cancellation and downgrades
Sam’s Club’s fee FAQ describes a 100% satisfaction guarantee on the membership: if you cancel, you get a refund of the current year’s fee. It limits Plus refunds to one per member or business per year, and says membership changes are prorated. That page was written around an earlier fee change, and the current cancellation help article would not load for us, so confirm the current rule with Member Services. Sam’s Club’s past holiday join-offer terms said memberships renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal.
Purchases are covered by a separate 100% Satisfaction Guarantee for current members, with exceptions such as electronics, major appliances, gift cards, prescriptions and eyeglasses, according to the returns page.
How to save at Sam’s Club without a coupon
- Check your group’s new-member discount first before paying full price.
- Pick the tier by spending. Plus pays back its extra $60 in Sam’s Cash only around $3,000 a year of eligible spending, unless you would buy Walmart+ anyway.
- Link Walmart+ if you already pay for it. Walmart says most members paying for both can get a prorated Walmart+ refund.
- Use Sam’s Cash for your renewal instead of letting it sit.

- The prices, eligibility rules, verification method and renewal terms of every new-member discount program (military, teacher, first responder, nurse and healthcare, college student, senior, government employee, SNAP/EBT).
- The senior program’s qualifying age: Sam’s Club’s help article title appears as “50+,” “55+” and “60+” in different versions.
- The price and terms of the “MILITARY MBRSHIP RENEW$15” item; the $15 appears only in its name.
- Any current join offer. The join page we read showed none, and the offers page did not load its details.
- Sam’s Cash rate for Plus: the join page and benefits page say “up to 2%” and “2%,” while the Plus upgrade page says members can “earn up to 5% back in Sam’s Cash,” likely including card earnings. We report both.
- Whether the 2% Plus membership earnings and the 3% Mastercard earnings stack on the same purchase.
- Club fee history: the current join page lists Club at $60, while the older fee FAQ describes a Club fee of $50 and a Plus fee of $110 after an earlier increase.
- Whether 5% gas earnings on the Mastercard apply to all cardholders (card terms) or only Plus members (one fuel center page says both).
- Current cancellation and refund rules beyond the older fee FAQ.
