The North Face does not publish a public promo code. Its coupon policy says codes come only through its own emails or customer service, and that codes on other websites are not valid. What it does list: a 15% welcome code for new XPLR Pass members (full-price items only), points worth $10 per 100 earned at one per dollar, free standard shipping for members, a 10% SheerID-verified discount for military, students and teachers, end-of-season markdowns of about 30% to 40%, and used gear plus trade-in credit through The North Face Renewed. Its first responder discount has ended, and there is no healthcare discount.

Is there a North Face discount code?
Not a public one. The coupon policy says codes come “directly through our emails or customer service representatives,” and that other websites offering them are not valid. The codes The North Face does issue are single-use and tied to you: the welcome code, the verified-group codes and trade-in credit. Past member events such as Member Week applied automatically when you signed in, excluded sale items and icon styles like the Nuptse, and couldn’t be combined with other discounts.
XPLR Pass: points, rewards, sign-up perks and free shipping
XPLR Pass is The North Face’s free loyalty program, open to legal residents of the U.S. and Canada aged 18 or older (or the age of majority where they live, if higher).
How points work
- Earning. One point per dollar on regular-priced and sale merchandise at thenorthface.com or North Face stores. Taxes, shipping, gift cards, other retailers’ sales and Renewed purchases earn nothing.
- Value and caps. Every 100 points is a $10 reward, so $1 back for every $10 spent. Rewards are capped at $50 per transaction and $150 per year.
- Timing. Points become redeemable 30 days after they’re earned and expire 12 months after the purchase that earned them. Points on returned items are forfeited.
- Extra points. Referrals (25), the app download (10), reusable bags in store, app check-ins and surveys add a few more, capped at 100 a year.
The 15% welcome offer
New members get 15% off their first qualifying purchase after joining online. The code arrives by text (you must opt in to SMS) and must be used within 30 days. It covers full-price merchandise only and excludes sale items, Icons, Summit Series, collaborations, premium and special collections, and gift cards. It’s online only, single-use and can’t be combined with other offers.
Free shipping and other perks
Signed-in members get free standard shipping on any subtotal to the contiguous U.S. (the terms exclude Alaska and Hawaii). Members also get a birthday surprise.
Military, student, teacher and healthcare discounts
The North Face runs three discount programs, all at 10% and all verified through SheerID:
- Military. Active duty, reservists, veterans and retirees, plus spouses and dependents of active personnel. Valid online and at full-price stores and outlets. In store, you show a valid military ID.
- Students. Full-time or part-time students at eligible U.S. colleges and universities. Valid online and at full-price stores, not outlets.
- Teachers. Teachers, professors, faculty and staff at U.S. K-12 schools and degree-granting colleges. Valid online and at full-price stores, not outlets.
Each program issues a single-use code that works once every 30 days; to shop again, you re-verify for a new code.
First responders and healthcare workers: The North Face’s first responder page says that discount “has ended,” and its nurse discount page lists only the student, teacher and military programs. The North Face points everyone else to XPLR Pass and the sale section. Our nurse discounts master list covers brands that do publish a healthcare program, and Under Armour’s military, first responder and teacher discount is one outdoor-adjacent option. Compare other brands in our military, student and teacher discount lists.
The North Face sale section
The men’s sale page, headed “End of Season Savings,” listed 268 products when we checked. Prices we saw:
| Item | Regular price | Sale price | Discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Men’s Valley View Jacket | $300.00 | $210.00 | 30% |
| Men’s Summit Off Width Jacket | $280.00 | $196.00 | 30% |
| Men’s Summit Breithorn Hoodie | $480.00 | $336.00 | 30% |
| Base Camp Voyager Duffel, 62L | $170.00 | $119.00 | 30% |
| Men’s Dynamic ¼ Zip Hoodie | $130.00 | $77.98 | 40% |
| Base Camp Duffel Special Edition, S (Final Sale) | $150.00 | $89.98 | 40% |
| Men’s Evolution Simple Dome Oversized Hoodie | $65.00 | $46.00 | 29% |
Prices change often. Watch for the “Final Sale-No Returns” label, which we saw on the Basin 7″ Shorts, the Base Camp Duffel Special Edition and the Half Dome Trucker. Sale items earn XPLR Pass points, but the welcome code excludes them.
The North Face Renewed: used gear and trade-in credit
The North Face Renewed sells used gear that has been inspected, washed and repaired, on its own site, thenorthfacerenewed.com. It showed 1,233 men’s items and free shipping on orders over $100 when we checked, but its product grid didn’t load in a form we could read, so we can’t quote prices. Renewed items carry a one-year warranty and don’t earn XPLR Pass points.
Trade-in credit
Trade in used North Face gear by mail or at a North Face store or outlet for up to $90 in credit, depending on the item’s original price and type. Per the trade-in terms:
- Items must be gently used, without significant wear, rips, stains or pilling. Rejected mail-in items aren’t returned, and mail-in donations carry a $5 shipping deduction.
- The limit is 5 items per person per calendar year.
- Credit arrives as an emailed code, works at thenorthface.com and U.S. North Face-owned stores, and expires 12 months after it’s issued.
- Credit can be combined with other coupons or promotions, and more than one credit can go on an order.
Shipping and returns
- Shipping. Standard takes 3 to 6 business days, Express 2 to 3, Priority 1 to 2. Standard is free for XPLR Pass members, and Ship to Store and in-store pickup are free with no minimum.
- Returns. Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase for unused, unwashed, unaltered items, refunded to the original payment method. Online orders can be exchanged only at a North Face store or outlet, and orders paid with PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Shop Pay can’t be returned in store. Defects after 30 days go through the Limited Lifetime Warranty.
The honest math
- Sale beats codes on marked-down items. The Valley View Jacket at $210 instead of $300 saves $90 with no code. The welcome code can’t be used on it.
- Full-price items. On a $300 full-price jacket outside the excluded collections, the 15% welcome code takes off $45 ($255 before tax); the 10% military, student or teacher code takes off $30. The welcome code can’t be combined, so pick one.
- Points on top. A $210 sale purchase earns 210 points: two $10 rewards, redeemable 30 days later, or about 9.5% back. The $150 annual cap stops paying after about $1,500 in spending.
- Trade-in credit stacks. It’s the one saving the terms say combines with other promotions. $90 is the maximum per item, not a typical amount.
How to save at The North Face without a coupon
- Join XPLR Pass before your first order and sign in at checkout for free shipping. Save the welcome code for a full-price item you want.
- Check the sale section first. Markdowns of 30% to 40% beat every percentage code The North Face offers.
- Military, students and teachers can get a fresh 10% code every 30 days. Military codes also work at outlets.
- Trade in gear you no longer wear, or buy used on The North Face Renewed.
- Compare retailers that carry The North Face and run their own programs. Our explainers on DICK’S Sporting Goods ScoreCard and price match, Nordstrom’s Nordy Club and price adjustments and Academy Sports’ price match and military discount cover how those work.
What we could not verify
- The exclusions and combining rules for the military, student and teacher discounts. Their full terms sit in a pop-up we couldn’t read.
- Renewed prices, condition grades and the Renewed return window. The Renewed product pages didn’t render readable text for us.
- Paid shipping rates and the guest free-shipping threshold. The coupon policy says free standard shipping applies with XPLR Pass “or orders of $150+,” but the shipping page lists no guest threshold.
- Whether return shipping is free. The coupon policy says free returns apply to all orders; the returns page doesn’t say so.
- Older XPLR Pass terms, still online, list a $50 cap per earning window and 11-month reward expiration. We followed the newer terms.
- Any general price adjustment policy.

Where this information comes from
Everything above comes from The North Face’s own U.S. pages and its Renewed site: the coupon policy, XPLR Pass page, XPLR Pass terms, older XPLR Pass terms, welcome gift terms, Member Week terms, free express shipping terms, military, student, teacher, first responder and nurse discount pages, the men’s sale page, shipping page, returns page, Renewed trade-in page, trade-in terms and The North Face Renewed. We did not run a checkout test or verify a SheerID discount ourselves, we invented no codes, and nothing here comes from coupon sites. Read how we verify deals and our editorial policy.
